Boys Basketball – 7th and 8th grade boys that are interested in playing basketball this season, can sign up on the wall by Mrs. Hubbard’s office. Try-outs for basketball will be next Monday, October 16th. The 7th grade will begin their try-out session at 2:30, and the 8th grader boys will begin their try-outs at 5:00.

Robotics Club – There is a sign-up sheet at the office for students that want to check out the fun and challenges of Lego Robotics competition. We have received this year’s new challenge board and it is time to get a team together. The club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in Mr. Kuntz’s room and work on our projects to get ready for the December regional competition. If you’re interested, get signed up now and pick up an application at Mrs. Cockrell’s office.

Hornet Football – Our 7th and 8th grade football teams will be playing their last game of the season tonight under the lights at South Umpqua High School. All players are required to ride the bus to the games. The 7th grade bus will be leaving at 3:00 and the 8th grade bus will be leaving at 4:30.

SUMO Wrestling – South Umpqua Mat Club will have registration next Monday, October 16th at SUHS at 6:00pm. Coffenberry wrestling season does not begin until January; but this is a great program and a wonderful opportunity to work on your skills and strength. Check it out and sign up.

Box Top$ – Students, remember that we are in the middle of the Boxtops for Education competition for the month of October.  Fill in those papers with boxtops, put your name on it and turn it in to Mrs. Smolensky.  The homeroom with the most boxtops gets a prize.  So far, Mr. Lance Bennett’s homeroom is in the lead.  Which class will be able to beat Mr. Bennett’s class?

Drinking Fountain – Hornets, the drinking fourntain is NOT a garbage can for your gum or sucker sticks. Please be responsible with your trash and use the garbage cans in the halls and classrooms.

No School – There is no school on Friday hornets! It is a state inservice day for school districts.
