Winter Wonderland Dance – Friday night is our annual Christmas dance and we are going to be dancing in a Winter Wonderland! The dance is from 5:30 to 7:30. Admission to the dance is $4.00, $3.00 with a student body card, and $2.00 with a HHH card. There will be treats to buy and enjoy.
Canned Food Drive – We have a lot further to go to reach our goal of 2,000 cans! Bring in your cans in the morning to the Skyhawk Room. Remember that if you bring five cans of food on Wednesday, you will be able to wear your hat. Let’s do our best to meet our goal!
Friendly Reminder – The doors of the school will now be locked at 2:15 each day. The main entrance doors will remain unlocked if you need to come back into the main building.
Winter Sports – Sign-Ups are now happening for girls basektball and wrestling that will begin after Christmas break. Sign-ups are on the wall outside Peggy’s office.
Holiday Dress-Up Week – Next week is our annual Holiday Dress-Up Week! It’s always a fun week to participate in before we are released for Christmas break. Monday is Red Day (wear as much Christmas red as you can!) Tuesday is Green Day (wear as much Christmas green as you can!) Wednesday is Santa Helper Day where you can wear your favorite elf or reindeer gear. Thursday is Pajama Day, where PJs are acceptable as long as they meet the dress code and please wear shoes not slippers to school. Friday is our Ugly Christmas Sweater Day so wear them loud and proud!
MCE Parking Lot People – Students, please do not touch or kick over the yellow safety signs down in the Myrlte Creek Elementary parking lot. Just walk right past them on your way to lunch recess. If you are found kicking over or disrupting the safety signs, there will be a consequence for the disrespectful behavior. At the same time, we would also like to remind students to NOT pick up the painted rocks down at the Skyhawk Room. Coffenberry students were seen picking up these rocks and throwing them as they went to lunch yesterday.
Horseplay – Hornets, quite simply, you are playing too rough with one another during your free time. There can be no piggy-back rides, picking one another up and swinging around, or rough play. People are getting hurt or falling into mud. Please keep your hands and feet to yourselves and be respectful with your behavior towards one another.
Hornet Basketball – Our Hornet basketball teams have home games this afternoon against the Sutherlin Bulldogs. Tip off is at 4:00pm for the 7th grade team and the 8th graders will play immediately after. Come and support our basketball teams and show your school spirit! Good luck Hornets!!
What’s For Lunch? Whole grain corn dog, hamburger, cheeseburger, chicken sandwich, or nacho bar
