Attendance Matters

Students with regular attendance in school are more likely to succeed.

Regular attendance encourages academic and social-emotional success. Together, families, educators, and community members can support a child’s attendance and help each student stay on the path to success.

Dear Families,

We are thrilled to introduce an exciting new family communication tool in our district, our brand-new PowerSchool Attendance Notification System! This system is designed to keep families informed and engaged in supporting student attendance, which is a key factor in academic success.

With this new system, parents and guardians will continue to receive phone notifications child is absent or tardy. Additionally, families will now get a monthly attendance snapshot of their child’s attendance. This is for every student, so families can easily see how attendance is going for their child.

Families will also automatically receive letters from the school when a student’s absences reach a certain threshold. These letters are automatically generated. The absences considered are for any reason, even when those absences are excused. Again, the purpose of these notifications is to ensure consistent communication so that families are aware of student’s current attendance rates.

Regular attendance helps students stay on track, build strong learning habits, and reach their full potential.

Why is attendance so important? Studies show that missing just two days a month—even in the early grades—can have a significant impact on a student’s academic progress. Being in school every day helps students:

  • Stay engaged in learning
  • Develop positive relationships with teachers and peers
  • Build lifelong habits of responsibility and perseverance

We are committed to working together to ensure every student reach their unlimited potential. Thank you for partnering with us to make school attendance a top priority. Let’s work together to keep our students on the path to success

In Partnership,

Superintendent Erika Bare
